A labour of love, Brumby: a celebration of Australia’s wild horses is soon to be released

brumby cover

After two years of research, interviews, writing and editing, the long-awaited book that celebrates rather than denigrates the majestic Australian Brumby is set to be released on September 1, 2013.  “It was a labour of love all the way”, says Mae Lee Sun, co-author of the book with Kathryn Massey,  “Culminating in a gorgeous book filled with breathtaking photographs and moving and sometimes comical and dramatic stories from contributors across Australia who see the Brumby as the epitome of the Australian identity- tough,  free-spirited and fair.”

“We couldn’t have done this without the expert guidance of our editor at Exisle Press, Anouska Jones, who went through the ups and downs alongside us. She was the voice of sanity as Kath and I juggled other parts of our lives while having to meet editorial deadlines. But it was worth it. We had the full support of our families, friends, and more importantly, our contributors. They came from all walks of life, all ages and really stepped up to share their experiences.  Not to mention we drew great inspiration from the brumbys themselves- we both have them and included our own stories about my brumby Trooper and Kath’s brumby Diesel.   Afterall, this is their legacy and ours. 100% of our author proceeds are being donated to ensure they’re around for future generations to enjoy.”

    Just heard!!
On Perth local “Radio Station..discussion regarding the sensless ,culling.. of wild horses. Left laying where they were shot. More feedback to Radio Stations ( would creat a desire ,for the general public to be involved..these horses have as much right to exist, like any other animal..just cruelty,by those who don’t -give a damn – “”ALL RADIO STATIONS THRIVE ON ‘NEWS”…Great White Sharks ,are always on the news. I am saddened by the later.

    cheers Terence Green
